Nike Swooshfly was built to make that step feel more possible, combining the lightweight feel and responsive energy return of a super shoe with the comfort and stability more runners want underfoot.

Swooshfly began with runners in China who wanted the energy of race-day footwear without sacrificing the confidence that helps them feel ready to race. That need wasn't unique. Runners around the world were looking for the same thing, inspiring Nike to create an entirely new race-day platform.

The result is Nike’s invitation into the world of race-day speed. Swooshfly isn’t a reduced version of an existing racing shoe; rather, it’s a new kind of super shoe designed around the needs of runners choosing race-day footwear for the first time.

With responsive cushioning, lightweight materials and a carbon fiber Flyplate, Swooshfly delivers the energy return runners expect from race-day footwear alongside the stability, comfort and confidence that help unlock performance from the 5K to the marathon. At a more accessible price point compared to Nike’s racing line, it expands access to Nike's race-day innovation.

For us, that’s what makes race day feel more possible.”

Built for Confidence, Comfort and Speed

Swooshfly is designed to help runners feel balanced and comfortable without giving up the sensation of speed.

At the center of Swooshfly is the new Nike SkyX supercritical foam, engineered to provide a responsive, cushioned and stable ride. The foam helps runners feel balanced while still providing a kick when it’s time to pick up the pace.

A tailored carbon fiber Flyplate that’s designed to be adaptive and accommodating works alongside the plush bed of foam, supporting smooth transitions and adding spring to each stride across a range of race paces.

Together, these innovations deliver up to 16 percent more energy return than the Nike Vaporfly 4 in a men’s size 10.

Comfort and security are equally central to Swooshfly’s performance. A new accommodating last, midfoot band, race-specific laces and structured heel counter work together to create a secure fit for both training and race day. A supercritical foam sock liner, plush tongue and padded collar add comfort, while additional protection across the upper helps protect the toes with every step.

The upper introduces a translucent woven Vaporweave material, pairing lightweight performance with a bright visual refresh. Bold accents bring added energy to the design, giving Swooshfly a distinctive presence on the starting line.

Underfoot, a dual-rubber compound outsole, including GOATEK on the forefoot, creates durability and traction where runners need it most, helping Swooshfly handle training miles and race day with confidence.

In all, Swooshfly’s innovative geometry, cushioning and plate system deliver a ride that feels cushioned, balanced and ready to move, helping runners focus less on their footwear and more on the challenge ahead.

Built in roughly half the time of a typical new-to-market model, Swooshfly is a catalyst for a faster, athlete-led approach to Nike innovation. By bringing together tighter teams, rapid testing and close collaboration with athletes and manufacturing partners, the project helped establish a new model for how breakthrough products can move from insight to reality, with learnings already influencing future innovations across Nike Running, ACG, Training and beyond.
