Kylian Mbappé’s New Nike Player Edition Boot Celebrates His History of Dominance in Mercurial

While it’s impossible to know what football feat Nike athlete Kylian Mbappé will accomplish next, one thing is certain: He’ll do it in Mercurial.

To that end, Nike is unveiling Kylian’s latest Player Edition football boot, which celebrates his most striking past silhouettes to unlock his future dominance on the pitch.

Like Kylian, Mercurial is nimble and ever-evolving — built to enable the speed, sophistication and performance of the game’s greatest athletes.

His new Player Edition model casts Mercurial in a head-turning Grand Purple colorway that draws on details of five of his previous Player Edition boots, dating back to 2018.

“I feel blessed to have my own design with this new Nike Player Edition model, especially on a boot that’s been with me for almost my entire career,” says Kylian. “Having my own Player Edition means a lot to me, and it gives me energy to get after the goals I want to achieve.”

A custom gold-lined logo on the heel harks back to Kylian’s first “Rising Fire” Player Edition boot, while graphic elements inside the logo recall his 2022 "Roots" model. A graphic on the lateral Swoosh nods both to his hometown and his 2019 “Bondy Dreams” boot, and the medial Swoosh sports the look of a lightning bolt, reminiscent of his 2020 “Rosa” model. Meanwhile, an inset flame graphic calls to mind his “Flames” footwear from 2021.

Further, two stars on the cuff of the Superfly model represent France’s pair of World Cup wins, and the sock liner includes Kylian’s autograph alongside his timeless quote: “Without risk there is no victory.”

“It’s pretty fun to see the legacy I have with Nike and the stories that we’ve made together,” says Kylian. “I have a special history with Mercurial, and on my new Player Edition you can see that long history through all the details from my previous boots.”

Kylian’s new Player Edition model also brings forward the industry-leading performance expected from Mercurial.

A unique three-quarter length Air Zoom unit underfoot provides springy acceleration on the pitch, while an integrated speed cage structure keeps footballers’ feet locked in and ready to step on the gas at a moment’s notice.

Tri-star studs provide multidirectional traction with every step — allowing athletes to create space, change direction and cut through the defense — and a cascading stud wave pattern enables rapid acceleration to top speed. A Gripknit toe delivers a precise boot-to-ball connection, and Flyknit contours around the ankle for a comfortable and secure fit.

The Nike Mercurial Kylian Mbappé Player Edition will be available globally in Superfly and Vapor models in late April at nike.com and select retail locations.
