• The Future of Youth Sport

Improving Sport Access & Experience

We’re improving sport access and experience for all youth. We’re focused on providing quality coaching, engaging more kids in sport, especially girls, and addressing barriers that keep too many youth on the sidelines.

Access

All youth need play to thrive. Research shows that active youth are healthier, happier and more successful in school and in life, but globally, only 1 in 5 kids gets the physical activity they need—and youth from underserved communities and girls are moving the least. That’s why Nike’s taking action to create a culture of belonging in sport that welcomes all youth (ages 7 to 17), especially girls. We’re working with experts and partners, including community organizations around the world, to improve access to positive sport experiences and to train more coaches—including female coaches—who can serve as mentors in the game and in life.

Experience

At Nike, we know that while a good coach can change a game, a great coach can change a life. All youth deserve a great coach in their corner—one who can inspire a lifelong love of sport. As part of our commitment to more inclusive coaching, we’re helping to increase the quality, quantity and diversity of youth coaches. We’re also investing in research-backed coaching tools and programs that help keep all youth in sport, especially girls, so they have an opportunity to play and achieve their greatest potential. Society

Breaking down barriers to participation is key for the future of youth sport, which is why Nike is committed to working with others to address the barriers that prevent youth from getting to the playing field in the first place. We partner with leading organizations that are dedicated to advancing inclusion for all youth.
