Introducing Nike Hybrid, a New Nike Training Performance Footwear System Built from the Ground Up
- August 03, 2026

What is Nike Hybrid?
Nike Hybrid is a new Nike Training footwear system built for the unique demands of hybrid training and racing. Featuring the Nike Hybrid Fly and Nike Hybrid RN, it helps athletes move seamlessly between running, lifting and dynamic movement without sacrificing speed, stability or traction.
Why did Nike create it?
As hybrid training and racing continue to grow, athletes have been forced to choose between running shoes built for speed and training shoes built for stability. Nike Hybrid Fly and Nike Hybrid RN were created to solve that challenge.
What Nike innovations are included?
Nike Hybrid features two purpose-built solutions: Nike Hybrid Fly, a hybrid racing shoe designed for the unique demands of competition, and Nike Hybrid RN, a runnable trainer crafted for everyday hybrid training.
When are they available?
The Nike Hybrid RN will release in China on September 24 before becoming available globally on October 8 at nike.com and select retail locations. The Nike Hybrid Fly will launch globally in April 2027.
Nike is introducing Nike Hybrid: a new Nike Training performance footwear system built from the ground up to meet the unique needs of hybrid athletes.
Hybrid racing is growing fast, redefining the way athletes train, compete and think about performance. It’s fast, efficient and relentless. Athletes regularly shift between running, lifting and dynamic movement throughout training and competition, requiring performance across a wide range of movements and environments.
The demands of hybrid training and racing are constant, but traditional footwear has required compromise. Athletes have been forced to choose between the speed and responsiveness of a running shoe and the stability and grip of a traditional training shoe, often sacrificing one benefit to get the other.
The Nike Hybrid system was created to solve that challenge, delivering performance without compromise. Built from the ground up, the innovations distinctly serve hybrid athletes, from everyday training to the starting line.
Designed to support the full-body demands of hybrid racing, Nike Hybrid delivers two new distinct footwear solutions tailored to the way hybrid athletes train and compete. The Nike Hybrid Fly is built for race day. The Nike Hybrid RN is designed for everyday training. Together, they form Nike Hybrid, an evolving system of innovation built for the different ways athletes train and compete.
The innovations are rooted in athlete insight and powered by Nike’s proprietary performance platforms, such as Nike Air, ZoomX and ReactX foam, and carbon fiber Flyplate technology, which combine to offer unparalleled performance between hybrid movements such as sled pushes and pulls, lunges, rows, ski ergs and runs. Nike worked with elite hybrid athletes like Dylan Scott as well as everyday athletes to inform, refine and pressure-test the system against the demands of hybrid training and racing.
The Nike Hybrid Fly: Designed for the Future of Hybrid Racing
Built for the unique demands of hybrid racing, the Nike Hybrid Fly is engineered for competition. The shoe combines ZoomX foam, a full-length carbon Flyplate and dual forefoot Air Zoom units to help maintain speed on the run, where many athletes gain their greatest competitive advantage.
The cushioning system is paired with a wider, more stable base designed to increase traction and help athletes minimize the micro-adjustments often required when transitioning into station work. Additional features include race lockdown laces, four-zone traction with sticky rubber and sidewall wraps to help maximize grip and security across varied surfaces, and a lightweight engineered mesh upper reinforced with zoned haptic lines for structure and durability.
“I have always wanted a shoe that ran like the snappy carbon-plated shoes but found a way to put a stable footing and grip out on the race floor as well,” says Scott, Nike world champion hybrid athlete. “I kept finding that I could get two out of three of those aspects but never all three to come together until the Hybrid Fly. It was the shoe I trusted to get the job done, and it did.”
The Nike Hybrid RN: Built for Everyday Hybrid Training
Designed for everyday hybrid training, the Nike Hybrid RN combines ReactX foam and a forefoot Air Zoom unit to create a smooth, responsive ride while maintaining the stability athletes need for lifts. A wide outsole and X-shaped upper overlays help secure the foot during transitions, while a dual-rubber outsole delivers optimal traction across multiple surfaces. Engineered mesh construction helps keep athletes comfortable and supported throughout training.
“Hybrid asks a lot more of a shoe than road running does,” says Lauren Weeks, Nike world champion hybrid athlete. “You’re constantly switching between running and strength movements, so it makes sense to wear something solely designed for both. Having a shoe that can handle those demands lets you focus on your race or training instead of thinking about your footwear.”
Along with the Hybrid Fly, the Hybrid RN reflects Nike’s commitment to solving athlete problems through performance innovation and design, delivering purpose-built solutions for the unique demands of hybrid training and racing.
The Nike Hybrid RN will release in China on September 24 before becoming available globally on October 8 at nike.com and select retail locations. The Nike Hybrid Fly will launch globally in April 2027.
