There’s no sleeping on the JA 4.

Ja Morant’s latest signature Nike Basketball shoe makes him even more of a nightmare to guard, keeping defenders tossing and turning with a responsive Cushlon 3.0 midsole for confident drives to the hoop and a new JA-Frame containment system for ultimate security in every cut.

The fourth silhouette in Ja’s signature Nike Basketball line builds on the standout originality and performance of the JA 3, bringing raw energy to power Ja and other underdog hoopers at all levels of the game.

When conceptualizing the JA 4, Ja wanted the shoe to “feel like me” — enabling his shifty, explosive style of play. That starts with the JA Swoosh, which takes on new functionality in the JA 4. Ja’s hallmark vertical Swoosh pairs with a lightweight TPU JA-Frame that wraps around the foot, keeping hoopers secure as they cut, shift and put defenders on notice.

“That’s something we really started building with the 3, and seeing how it evolved on the 4 is crazy,” says Ja. “It just feels more raw, more aggressive, like it’s got more attitude to it. That’s what I like. It’s one of those details where if you know, you know. And for me, it just represents how I’m evolving too.”

The TPU JA-Frame works alongside a responsive Cushlon 3.0 midsole and lightweight supercritical foam SPRPWR sock liner to ensure containment, energy return and longevity — allowing Ja to rise fast, recover quickly and stay ready for the next play.

A precise traction pattern helps Ja and hoopers like him plant hard, push through pressure and battle their way to the hoop, and flow foam ridges along both sides of the silhouette add critical durability and protection for the intensity at the center of Ja’s game.

Personal design details round out the shoe, such as Ja’s signature logo and former jersey number — a callout to his Twelve Time Basketball program. Quotes that drive Ja adorn the outsole (“If you’re down there, you’re in the way”) and medial upper (“I don’t have motion where my feet at — it’s global.”)

What’s more: The Nightmare launch colorway gives opponents yet another reminder why Ja and his shifty playing style keep defenders up at night.

“Colorways have always been big for me,” says Ja. “I don’t like playing it safe — I want my shoes to stand out, just like my game. Every pair gotta have some energy to it, something that makes you feel different when you put it on. I pull inspiration from everything: my life, my mood, my family. And yeah, I’ve been hearing people call me the ‘Colorway King,’ so I take that serious. I’m gonna keep making sure every drop hits like that.”

The JA 4 nods to Nike’s unmatched commitment to championing the players at the center of the game. By partnering with an unparalleled mix of all-time greats and next-up stars, Nike is shaping the future of basketball — creating the best for the best, then delivering it to those who love the game the most.

Ja officially debuted the silhouette as top young hoopers from Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League lace up in Las Vegas, taking the floor on JA-branded courts that bring to life Ja’s electric style of play and self-expression, coinciding with the NBA Summer League competition in Las Vegas.

“As Nike Basketball continues to look for new and innovative ways to serve Ja and his consumers, we always start with the athlete first, asking the right questions that give authentic insight into what the specific needs are to perform at the highest level on the court,” says Monique Currie, product line manager for Ja’s signature footwear. “In addition, we want to stay true to the edge and expressiveness that Ja embodies both on and off the court, ensuring that when a player puts on a JA 4 they are confident in their performance and ready to attack.”

The Nike JA 4 will be available globally August 13 at nike.com and select retail locations.
