No matter where you were watching Faith Kipyegon take to the track to break the 4-minute mile — in standing-room-only crowds of employees at Nike’s worldwide campuses; at watch parties in Chicago, Los Angeles, Eldoret, Kenya; on digital billboards in New York City, London and Mexico City; or gripping the edge of your seat inside Stade Charléty in Paris — the emotions of Breaking4 were palpable: excitement, nervousness, elation, pride.

The images below reflect every feeling and show what track and field fans have always known: Faith Kipyegon is a champion. The team at Nike knows it too.

“I feel so proud of myself that I’ve tried,” Faith said post-attempt. “Today was a learning lesson, that I have to give it my all, and that’s what I did — I gave it my all. And it’s shown me that everything is possible, and I think I’ve shown other women out there that can be true for them too. We have to push ourselves toward what we dream of and dare to try.”

Faith, we can’t wait to see, and support, what you dare to try next.
