Q: Does my business qualify as a diverse-owned business?
A diverse-owned business is defined as one that is at least 51% owned, operated, managed, and controlled by individuals from diverse backgrounds. While we are committed to recognizing and supporting the unique contributions of diverse business owners, our broader goal is to foster an inclusive and equitable environment that welcomes the participation and growth of all businesses, regardless of background. By honoring diverse perspectives and experiences, we aim to create opportunities that benefit the entire business community.
Q: How do I become part of Nike’s Business Diversity & Inclusion program?
- Attain certification as a diverse-owned business, where applicable.
- Qualify as a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) or Small/Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) per the US Small Business Administration, UK, EU or local regional guidelines
- Register your company in Nike’s Business Diversity & Inclusion portal to help increase its visibility for potential opportunities to do business with us.
Q: What happens after I register my company?
A Nike contact (Procurement or Business group) will reach out to you if/when relevant project opportunities arise that match your company’s profile. If you are a new supplier to Nike, the contract onboarding process will begin in advance of project inception.
Q: Does registering with the Business Diversity & Inclusion program ensure that Nike will do business with me?
After a company is registered, Nike teams review the information and determine if there are any opportunity matches. There is no guarantee of business, and contracts are only awarded after a thorough vetting process.
Q: Does Nike require diversity certifications?
Yes. Suppliers must acquire and maintain valid certification(s) from our partner councils and/or associations, when appropriate. Suppliers are required to show proof of certification and indicate the expiration date. If a supplier cannot provide proper documentation of their certification, then they must legally attest to their diverse status by signing a Nike Affidavit in the registration process.
Q: How do I get certified? How does Nike handle international diverse suppliers?
Contact the appropriate diversity council—and diversity classification—for your region. You can find Nike’s partner councils on Purpose.Nike.com, by searching for “Business Diversity”.
Q: Is there any advantage to working with Nike as a small or diverse-owned business?
Absolutely! Nike is a purpose-driven organization, and we’re dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture of belonging and creating an environment in which every voice matters. We’re also committed to building a diverse talent pipeline and providing all of our suppliers with the resources, support and mentorship necessary to thrive and grow.
Q: What type of industries is Nike looking to work with?
We are currently looking for diverse-owned suppliers and small businesses in all industries.
Q: Is there a cost to participate in Nike’s Business Diversity & Inclusion program?
No. There is no cost to participate in our program, but there are some variable costs associated with diversity certifications.
Q: Does Nike post upcoming opportunities for suppliers?
No. Nike does not typically share upcoming opportunities, as strategies can change often. For this reason, it’s imperative that you keep your information up to date in the Business Diversity & Inclusion portal.
Q: Can you share a contact name for commodity categories?
No, our team cannot share that information unless authorized. We recommend that you register on our portal to begin your relationship with Nike.
Q: I’ve lost my Business Diversity & Inclusion portal login. What should I do?
Visit nike.supplierone.co, click the “Login” button, and then select the “Forgot your password?” link.
For any additional questions, diverse suppliers can contact us, via email, at business.DI@Nike.com. One of our Nike teammates will get back to you as soon as possible.
