How is Nike dominating the culture of football?

As football fans around the world turn their eyes to the biggest stage this summer, Nike is dominating the game for footballers and fans alike and establishing itself as the pinnacle destination for on the pitch with Federation kits and innovative boots (Mercurial Vapor 17 and Mercurial Superfly 11) and in the streets with its X2 collaborations and Cryoshots

What is X2?

Nike has partnered with seven federations, seven collaborators and seven community organizations creating the future of youth sport to unveil its X2 capsule collections — each an expression of football as culture, community and sport, reflecting national pride through style and a distinctly local POV.

How does X2 work?

As select expressions of Nike’s 2026 federation kits, the collections sit at the intersection of football, culture and creativity. Each is shaped by the federation, then reinterpreted through the lens of designers, artists and the communities that live the game every day.

What’s behind the X2 design?

Nike tapped visionary designers around the world to collaborate with their corresponding home team on the design of the kits to recreate football classics capturing the energy and tailored to culture of each locale.

What is the social impact of X2?

Nike selected a local youth sport organization to be the third partner for each X2 collaboration. Nike invests in these organizations in support of their daily missions with a long-term commitment to create the future of youth sport.

When will X2 be available?

The X2 collections will be available at collaborator and federation retail beginning June 11, at Dover Street Market retail beginning June 13, and across SNKRS and select Nike partner retail beginning June 16.

The seven pre-match jerseys featuring the community youth sport organizations will be worn pre-match by their respective federations at all friendly games. Click the gallery to read more about each community youth sport organization and X2.

For on the pitch, Nike’s new standards for national team kit design merge Nike’s Aero-FIT performance cooling technology, with time-honored tradition and bold visions for the future. A unified approach offers a deep exploration of each federation’s heritage, culture and identity — bringing forward a striking sense of optimism and future-facing inspiration. Home kits are anchored in each federation’s DNA, while away kits are designed as future classics, creating bold and authentic expressions for a new generation.

Nike also recognizes — and honors — that the game doesn’t only live on the pitch. Nike has partnered with seven federations, seven collaborators and seven community organizations creating the future of youth sport to unveil its X2 capsule collections.

Nike tapped its X2 partners from around the world to collaborate with their corresponding home team on the design of the kits to recreate soccer classics capturing the energy and tailored to culture of each locale. The co-branded designs allow fans to rep their teams in the stadium, on the streets, or anywhere their nation gathers.

Within X2, Nike developed collaborator versions of the Cryoshots, pulling classic Nike boots from the vault and made for everyday wear. From the Cryoshot Mercurial Vapor R9 x Netherlands x Patta to the Cryoshot Zoom M9 x USA x V.A.A., Nike encased each football boot studs in crispy clear outsoles so that fans can wear their favorite cleats on the street.

Nike selected a local youth sport organization to be the third partner for each X2 collaboration. Nike invests in these organizations in support of their daily missions with a long-term commitment to create the future of youth sport.
