The Nike Maxfly 2 is designed with the stability and support you need for distances between 100 and 400 meters.What’s New The Nike Maxfly 2 was designed around the idea of maximizing the sprint spike’s existing carbon fiber plate and Nike Air Zoom energy return cushioning system, while simultaneously improving the spike’s handling abilities on both the turns and the straightaways.&nbsp;Stability and Support To help add stability during curved sprinting, Nike created a new base of support system that’s wider, flatter and contains six spikes underfoot, rather than its initial seven. As part of the spike’s development process, athletes tested prototypes of the Maxfly 2 in the Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL), where researchers measured their biomechanics — specifically body lean and foot angles — going around turns and straightaways. They found that removing the middle spike and expanding the medial platform indicated an increase in all-around stability and handling.
