When employees have peace of mind about taking care of themselves and those they love, they are better equipped to bring their best to work. This is why, since signing the White House Equal Pay Pledge in 2016, we have built a rigorous pay review practice to ensure pay equity for all employees, and we consistently evaluate our benefits so employees have the support they need no matter what life holds.
At NIKE, we define pay equity as equal compensation for employees who undertake the same work at the same career level, location, experience and performance. Each year we evaluate our entire pay practice and action an independent third-party review to review employee pay data. The analysis factors in employee movement (i.e., new jobs, promotions, organizational changes, transfers and new hires), the dynamic labor market and industry best practices to identify any statistical outliers and make pay adjustments where appropriate. The outcome—100% pay equity across all employee levels year over year—is well worth the effort.
All NIKE employees can access inclusive benefits that allow teammates to choose the best options for themselves and their families. In addition to best-in-class medical, vision and dental benefits, NIKE employees can access crisis support resources (free mental health support, natural disaster assistance, etc.) and expanded parental, family and bereavement leave.
The Mentorship Program is a voluntary, nine-month business-centered initiative available to all employees and focused on talent development. The mentoring program connects participants with senior talent in the organization and is focused on visibility, career development and building stronger, more inclusive teams. Since FY22, over 2,000 employees have engaged with 1:1 mentorship that is purpose built to accelerate the flow of talent across NIKE, Inc.

New hires are welcomed with RunningSTART, and as they develop, they’re supported through every stage of leadership with programs like Manager Onboarding. Retail teammates make up approximately 50% of Nike’s employee population. We believe it is essential to equip this part of our workforce with career development opportunities that enhance their end-to-end career experience. We turn this belief into action through several distinctive career development programs.
- Track Stretch experiences—a six month and 15-week option—allow retail store leaders to explore different career paths and specializations at the corporate level.
- The Converse Kickstart HQ experience provides Converse Firstline teammates with exposure to different roles throughout Converse over a six-month period.
- The Academy, a one-year rotational program open to U.S. retail store managers and assistant store managers, provides exposure to a variety of business functions within Nike Direct.
Teammates in our U.S. distribution centers and Air MI can enroll in Lane Four, a program developed in partnership with the University of Memphis that helps teammates earn their college degrees. As part of the program, teammates benefit from built-in support like direct tuition billing to NIKE to eliminate out-of-pocket expenses and 24/7 tutoring to match the schedule of this workforce.
