Our Commitment to the Black Community
Addressing systemic racism in America requires urgent action and sustained engagement—and NIKE, Inc. is committed to both. In 2020, Nike, Converse, Jordan Brand and Michael Jordan committed a combined $140 million over 10 years to invest in and support organizations focused on economic empowerment, education and social justice to address racial inequality for Black Americans. Our investments will go toward developing strategic national partnership, as well as supporting local community organizations, and we’ll engage our employees as partners throughout.

Creating lasting change doesn’t happen alone or overnight, and that’s why we’re partnering with world-class organizations that are dedicated to advancing this work.
NAACP Empowerment Programs, the charitable entity of the NAACP, focuses on training, edu-cation and advocacy at the national and local levels against a mission of ensuring the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons.
NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Inc. (LDF) employs litigation, advocacy and public education to ad-vance its mission to achieve racial justice, equality and an inclusive society.
Black Girls CODE educates and empowers girls of color, ages 7-17, to become innovators in the rapidly growing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields.
Black Girl Ventures provides access to capital and support systems for Black and Brown women identifying business founders.
Goalsetter focuses on helping American families become financially healthy and empowered to achieve their goals.
Black Voters Matter supports policies that expand access to the ballot, including the restoration of voting rights to people who have been incarcerated and the development of a network of grassroots organizations that activate Black voters.
Win With Justice, a social action campaign led by WNBA player Maya Moore, brings a new vi-sion to our justice system that moves beyond simply a results-driven finish line and instead brings a broader lens to promoting safe and healthy communities.
The Formerly Incarcerated & Convicted People and Families Movement (FICPFM) supports formerly incarcerated individuals who are returning to society — to promote civic engagement, help them meet voter registration eligibility requirements and shift the dominant narrative on who convicted people and their loved ones are.
National Urban League (NUL) promotes economic empowerment through education and job training, housing and community development, workforce development, entrepreneurship, health, and quality of life programming to help African Americans and others in underserved communities achieve their highest true social parity, economic self-reliance, power, and civil rights.
All Star Code, a nonprofit computer science education organization focused on young Black and Latino men to prepare them for careers in the innovation economy – with the ultimate goal to close the wealth, income and opportunity gaps.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, whose mission is to “create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth” by matching adult volunteers with children from age 5 to young adulthood.
Son of A Saint exists to transform the lives of fatherless boys through mentorship, emotional support, development of life skills, exposure to constructive experiences and formation of positive, lasting peer-to-peer relationships.
Equal Justice Initiative provides legal representation to prisoners who may have been wrongly convicted of crimes, poor prisoners without effective representation, and others who may have been denied a fair trial.

Continuing in 2022, the Black Community Commitment will also support a series of grants (totaling $2.75 million) to local organizations that are working to drive action and impact in partnership with the Black community in seven U.S. cities: New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, Memphis, St. Louis and Boston.
