張家朗が2大会連続の金メダル

フェンシング香港代表選手でNikeアスリートの張家朗が、緊迫した決勝戦を制して頂点に。男子個人フルーレで、自身2個目となる金メダルを獲得しました。東京大会に続く2大会連続の金メダルです。

張家朗のモットーは、「自分を見失わない」。フェンシングを始めた時から、「試合を楽しむ」ことを胸に刻んでいいます。

両親ともに、香港のナショナルリーグで活躍したバスケットボール選手。スポーツ一家に育った張家朗は、小学校4年生でフェンシングを始めました。 2017年にはNikeアスリートになり、ジュニア世界選手権で優勝。続いて2022年のワールドカップ、そして今年初めに開催されたグランプリでも優勝しています。

張家朗は次のように語っています。「子どもの頃は、負けるとすごく惨めな気分になって泣いていました。両親に言われたのは、『負けるにしても、相手に簡単に勝たせないようにしなさい』ということ。劣勢になるたび、この言葉を思い出してきました。僕に勝ちたくても、簡単には勝たせない。ともかく、最終的には僕が勝つんです」
