Nike's new road running footwear line-up delivers cushioning for every run

  • 20 November 2024

What to know

  • Nike's new road running footwear line-up comprises three recognisable categories, making it easier for runners to identify and choose the distinct benefits they're looking for.
  • The categories are based on trusted Nike mainstay franchises and are dedicated to what runners love most: cushioning.
  • Each category has a lead benefit. The Pegasus has responsive cushioning, the Structure has supportive cushioning and the Vomero has maximum cushioning.

Nike is introducing its new road running footwear line-up, designed to connect athletes with the brand's best running footwear innovation to help them seamlessly gear up for whatever run they want to take that day—from a jog around the local area to the peak of a marathon training plan.

Nike heard from runners that they wanted a more intuitive way to select the best shoe out of the brand's full offering to match the running experience they want to have on any given day. To give runners that clarity and consistency across Nike's franchises, the brand simplified its road running footwear line-up.

The new line-up, comprising three categories, is based on trusted Nike mainstay franchises and dedicated to what runners love most: cushioning. Each category offers a distinct benefit and a different mix of Nike technologies and price points, providing a variety of options for all runners.

  • The Pegasus franchise provides responsive cushioning for all-day energy return.
  • The Vomero franchise delivers maximum cushioning for ultimate comfort.
  • The Structure franchise offers supportive cushioning for a stable ride.

An "Icon" model anchors each category. For example, the Pegasus 41 and Vomero 18 are icon models of the responsive and maximum cushioning categories, respectively. "Plus" and "Premium" silhouettes create distinction within their categories, offering a combination of Nike's best technologies for an elevated experience. The intent is to push the boundaries of what supportive, responsive and maximum cushioning can feel like.

"We know runners just want a shoe that feels right for their daily runs. They don't want to overthink it", says Marian Dougherty, senior director, Running Footwear Product. "That's why we have streamlined our offerings and created a clear distinction between them, so runners can easily find what they need. It's all about finding that sweet spot so runners can just lace up and hit the road".

For instance, if a runner is after a fast city run and needs great cushioning and energy return, the Pegasus will be a great solution. Or if they're looking for a comfortable, plush ride for a long, easy run, the Vomero will be the best fit. If they're seeking a more stable, Guided Run, they should look no further than the Structure.

"For 50 years, we've obsessed over the details to make the best products that serve the needs of all runners—wherever or however fast they run", Dougherty says. "Where the athlete runs determines how we tune and build a cushioning system to meet their needs across race, road and trail running".

The Pegasus 41 and Pegasus Plus are available globally at Nike.com and select retailers; the Pegasus Premium will launch in late January 2025.

The Vomero 18 will be available globally starting on 27 February 2025; the Vomero Plus, Premium and new Structure silhouettes will be available later in 2025.
