Editor's note: this release was updated on 28 March 2025 to include additional information about the Nike After Dark Tour reimagined race medal, the tour's global partnership with Hyperice and the Nike Run Club App digital journey throughout the tour.
Ahead of the first race on the After Dark Tour, Nike is unveiling its latest innovation tailored for women: Nike's first sweat-proof, reflective design necklace and reimagined race medal.
The fresh take on a race medal, available exclusively to After Dark Tour finishers, was created by a nearly all-female team of Nike designers, engineers and developers. They have leveraged advanced materials and computational design to create an elegant and durable piece that easily transitions from the starting line to everyday life.
The reflective design Swoosh pendant incorporates the elevation of the After Dark Tour courses, while the shoelace-inspired chain is a nod to Nike's running DNA, celebrating runners' journeys with engraved aglets commemorating the After Dark Tour. Additionally, a magnetic closure makes the piece easy to wear and remove while providing a customisable fit for runners.
Informed by feedback from a women's running forum with Nike's top athletes, the necklace marks the latest example of how the brand creates bespoke pieces for all athletes that support the expression of their style while competing.
In addition to unveiling the exclusive After Dark Tour performance jewellery, Nike is also partnering with Hyperice to provide post-race recovery zones at each event, helping runners unwind with a suite of technology products that offer best-in-class recovery benefits.
As an extension of the tour, the Nike Run Club App will also offer a virtual race series, with six companion challenges aligned to the distance and timing of each After Dark Tour race. The virtual race series will give runners around the world an opportunity to be part of the tour. NRC users who complete a challenge will unlock a digital badge and Hyperice discount code reward.

8 January 2025—For more than five decades, Nike has been at the forefront of the running revolution, driven by a relentless passion to empower and inspire runners of all levels. The brand has been a pioneer in pushing the boundaries and expanding opportunities for women in running, serving the future of sport and the next generation.
As a continuation of Nike's mission to invite more women into sport, the brand is announcing the 2025 After Dark Tour, a global women's race series designed to be the ultimate girls' weekend.
This unique series of nighttime running events has been crafted to bring female runners together, promoting a sense of community, self-expression and belief that will leave athletes feeling seen, supported and motivated to take on their next challenge.
The After Dark Tour invites female runners to race the night away in 10Ks and half-marathons in six major cities: Sydney, Shanghai, Seoul, Mumbai, Los Angeles and Mexico City.
Beyond chasing times and miles, each event reflects the convergence of nightlife, running, community, culture and style—and has been designed to feed the passion athletes have for sport, connection and shared experiences.
Each race weekend will include Nike product and style experiences, expert coaching guidance and motivation, race-day preparation services, recovery zones and post-race celebrations to end the night.
"We're creating a space where female runners feel welcome and empowered", says Seema Simmons, VP, Global Women's Running and Training. "The After Dark Tour is about more than crossing a finishing line—it's about joining a community that supports and uplifts you, wherever you are in your running journey. We're inviting all women to come as they are to discover the strength within themselves and the power of our collective energy".
What's more, the After Dark Tour has been designed to empower women to perform their best and create lasting connections through a training journey that begins well before race day and promotes a love for sport that extends far beyond the finishing line—reflecting Nike's long-standing and lasting commitment to supporting female runners.
Beginning today, Nike invites women and their communities to take their place at the starting line and to experience the ultimate girls' weekend.
Runners will be able to access official After Dark Tour Training Plans through the Nike Run Club App, complete with specialised instructions from Nike Run Coach Diljeet Taylor that have been designed to build runners' endurance and confidence to take on a 10K, half-marathon or both distances. The 10K plan spans six weeks and the half-marathon plan includes 12 weeks of instruction.
"Getting athletes to the starting line knowing that their coach believes in them is the best race day preparation", says Taylor. "I am so excited to be part of this journey where I have the opportunity to motivate and train an entire community of runners that maybe wouldn't have sought out a goal like this, and I get to be someone who helps them set and chase that goal to cross the finishing line. To me, that's very humbling and fulfilling".
In the lead up to race day, the Nike Run Club App will help athletes connect with friends and other runners through experiences and challenges in their local area and across the globe. The Nike Run Club App now provides athletes with localised tips before they head out and allows them to share their real-time location with friends and family during their run.
Nike is also enabling the full training journey and race day experience with the latest innovations and running essentials, which are purpose-built to help women train and compete at their peak.
The After Dark Tour begins on 12 April in Sydney and concludes on 21 June in Mexico City. Learn more and register for a race at afterdarktour.nike.com.
