Keely Hodgkinson wins gold in the 800 metres

  • 05 August 2024

Nike athlete Keely Hodgkinson has won her first gold medal, finishing the 800 metres in 1:56.72.

In describing her determination to clinch gold in Paris, Keely told Nike, "I have so many silvers, so what drives me now is the will to win, the will to one day say, 'I am the best'. I think that's a great achievement, and I've worked really hard to fulfil it".

The 22-year-old English middle-distance runner won her first national title when she was just 15 years old. At the Tokyo Games, she won a silver medal in the 800 metres. In June of 2024, Keely defended her 800-metre title at the European Athletics Championships despite being ill. In July, she set a new British 800-metre record with a time of 1:54.61.

A Nike athlete since 2019, Keely has spent the last five years working with the brand's researchers and designers and providing valuable athlete insights to help guide product innovation for women runners.
