Jordan Chiles en Team USA winnen Olympisch goud bij het turnen voor vrouwen

In een echte samensmelting van kracht en stijl toonden Nike atleet Jordan Chiles en het Amerikaanse vrouwenturnteam opnieuw hun dominantie en namen ze de gouden medaille in de teamfinale mee naar huis.

Het team is regerend wereldkampioen en heeft sinds 1992 op elke Spelen medailles gewonnen. In Tokio wonnen ze de zilveren medaille.

Nikeatleet Jordan Chiles hielp Team USA aan goud en deed mee in alle vier de onderdelen: sprong, brug, balk en vloer. Op dat laatste onderdeel zette ze een ongelooflijke score van 13.966 neer met haar op hiphop geïnspireerde oefening. De 23-jarige zegt dat ze dit jaar begon met een heel nieuw gevoel van zelfvertrouwen en toewijding. “In mijn hart en mijn hoofd ging het nu om afmaken wat ik was begonnen [in Tokio] en me zelfverzekerd voelen op weg naar Parijs. Met dat zelfvertrouwen zei ik tegen mezelf 'Dit is wie ik ben', wat ik aan de wereld ga laten zien, samen met mijn teamgenoten", vertelde Jordan aan Nike voor Parijs 2024.
