Cheung Ka Long si riconferma campione

Cheung Ka Long, fiorettista di Hong Kong e atleta Nike, si è aggiudicato il suo secondo oro nel torneo individuale del fioretto maschile dopo un finale ricco di suspense a Parigi. L'atleta aveva vinto la sua prima medaglia al torneo di Tokyo.

Il motto di Ka Long "Non perdere di vista il tuo percorso" serve a ricordargli perché ha iniziato a praticare la scherma: godersi ogni incontro e divertirsi.

Il campione è cresciuto in una famiglia di atleti (entrambi i suoi genitori giocavano nella lega nazionale di basket di Hong Kong) e ha cominciato a praticare la scherma in quarta elementare. Nel 2017, è diventato un atleta Nike e ha vinto la competizione giovanile internazionale. In seguito, ha continuato a brillare nella competizione internazionale del 2022 e nel Grand Prix la scorsa primavera.

"Da piccolo, a volte piangevo dopo una sconfitta e provavo una grande tristezza", afferma Ka Long. "Ma i miei genitori mi dicevano: 'Anche quando perdi, non lasciare che il tuo avversario la vinca facile'. E quindi, quando ero sotto con il punteggio, pensavo sempre a questa frase. Se vuoi battermi, non ti permetterò di vincere facile. E quindi, sono riuscito a vincere."
