NIKE, Inc. is committed to building deeper community connections and creating positive social change around the world.
Nike is committed to supporting projects that create access to sport and physical activity opportunities for kids. By providing early, positive (and FUN!) experiences that get them moving and interacting with others, we can help unleash the potential of today’s youth and set them on a successful trajectory for life.
Designed to Move
Nike is a proud supporter of Designed to Move, a growing community of public, private, and civil sector organizations dedicated to ending the growing epidemic of physical inactivity.
Let’s Move Active Schools
Nike supports Active Schools in the U.S. through investment in Let’s Move! Active Schools. Nike’s investment helps deliver program resources, technical assistance, and professional development opportunities to all schools in the U.S.
As a company, Nike believes in the power of human potential. That’s why we invest in and support the Girl Effect, the idea that adolescent girls have a unique potential to end poverty for themselves and the world.
It is in Nike's nature to innovate. This truly comes alive where we live, work and play in communities throughout the world.
Nike School Innovation Fund
The Nike School Innovation Fund’s mission is to fuel excellence in education through the power of innovation. Through the fund, Nike pairs its executives with local schools to implement programs that have a big impact on students and schools. Previously, the fund gave $9 million over five years to support early learning and leadership development programs. Today, the Nike School Innovation Fund focuses on accelerating career and college readiness for 9th graders in Oregon.
Nike Employee Grant Fund
The Nike Employee Grant Fund makes grants of $550,000 per year to nonprofit organizations in the greater Portland area, near Nike’s global headquarters. The primary goal is to support programs that create early positive experiences for young people through physical education, sports, and play. Nike employees play an important role to NEGF’s impact by participating in the grant decision-making process. In 2013, NEGF grants served more than 200,000 people and 51 organizations.
Oklahoma Tornado Relief
In the aftermath of the devastating tornado that struck communities around Oklahoma City, Okla., in May of 2013, Nike committed $500,000 to KaBOOM! The nonprofit play advocacy organization used the funds to help rebuild five playgrounds in areas affected by the storms and provide fun, physical activity and recreation for children and families. In addition, $1 million worth of product was donated to those impacted by the tornado, and another $500,000 was contributed to the Moore Public Schools Foundation to help rebuild their middle school sports stadium.
Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda
Typhoon Haiyan struck Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, affecting more than nine million people in the Philippines. On Nov. 25, Nike Southeast Asia retailers participated in an auction to raise money for victims. And on Dec. 1, 15,000 runners took to the streets of Marikina, in Metro Manila, to support the victims of Typhoon Yolanda. In total, Nike employees' incredible team effort raised $175,000 for the Filipino people.
